Pico De Gallo

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Pico de Gallo is one of the easiest fresh salsas you can make. It comes together in just 10 minutes and can be made ahead of time. With bright, fresh flavors from tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and jalapeño, this salsa is a light and refreshing addition to so many of your favorite Mexican dishes.

Pico De Gallo

It's my absolute favorite salsa to make from scratch. Pico de Gallo reminds me of summer, fresh tomatoes from the garden, backyard dinners, and time outside with the kids. When the tomatoes and jalapeños start rolling in from the garden, this is one of the first things I whip up. The flavor is so vibrant, it adds a homemade touch to everything from tacos to burrito bowls.

My Latest Videos

I especially love using fresh heirloom tomatoes during garden season. They have so much more flavor than store-bought, and they really let this simple salsa shine. If you have access to a farmers' market or grow your own tomatoes, this is the perfect recipe to celebrate all that homegrown goodness.

How To Make Pico De Gallo

Making homemade Pico is so simple and the results are so worth it. Just be sure to dice your ingredients evenly for the best texture.

STEP 1

Add the diced tomatoes, onions, and jalapeños to a medium-sized bowl. Stir to combine.

STEP 2

Add in the chopped cilantro and all of the seasonings. Mix again.

STEP 3

Pour in the lime juice and stir until everything is well combined. Let the salsa sit for at least 15 minutes before tasting. This gives the flavors time to marry. Enjoy!

💭Tips

  • Chop ingredients uniformly for the best texture and presentation.
  • Let it rest before serving for the flavors to fully develop.
  • For a milder version, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeños or substitute with Nadapenos.
  • You can swap the garlic powder for fresh minced garlic if preferred.
