Hi there! I'm Sky, the creator behind Simply Scratch Made, a blog where I share my passion for cooking from scratch and inspiring others to feel confident in the kitchen. With nearly 20 years of hands-on experience in the culinary world, my mission is to help busy families create wholesome, homemade meals using simple, approachable ingredients.
My Culinary Roots
I was born and raised in a small town in East Texas as the youngest of three, and food has always played a big part in my life. I'm a huge foodie, and some of my all-time favorite things to make are a hearty beef roast, homemade sourdough bread, and cookies. From a young age, I found joy in the kitchen, experimenting with flavors and learning the art of scratch cooking.

My love for food led me to study Culinary Arts in college, where I earned a formal education in cooking techniques and food service. After graduating, I worked in the food service industry at the college I attended and eventually stepped into a role as a Culinary Arts Instructor. Teaching others how to cook truly lit a fire in me, and now I bring that same teaching spirit to this blog.
Simply Scratch Today
These days, I'm a full-time mom, homesteader, and food blogger. I live a hands-on lifestyle that includes making easy dinners, baking homemade bread, whipping up comfort food favorites, and testing delicious dessert recipes, all in my busy home kitchen. I also tend a garden and raise chickens, which has been a rewarding part of our life for the past five years.

I love sharing not just my favorite scratch-made recipes, but also homesteading tips like how to grow your own food or raise backyard chickens. Everything I share is tested and true and made with busy families in mind.
