Key Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Butter - Unsalted butter is my go-to. You can substitute with salted if that is what you prefer, just omit the salt from the recipe.
  • Brown Sugar and Granulated Sugar - For soft, chewy cookies!
  • Cornstarch - For a soft, tender, chewy texture! Don't skip this ingredient!
  • Valentine M&Ms - these add color and crunch. You can substitute with regular M&Ms or any seasonal variety.
  • Chocolate Chips - I use dark chocolate chips to balance the sweetness of the milk chocolate M&Ms, just a personal preference. Substitute with milk chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, or white chocolate chips.
  • Sprinkles - Totally optional, but they add extra Valentine flair and make these cookies even more fun.

See the recipe card below for the full list of ingredients and measurements.

How To Make Valentine M&M Cookies

These cookies come together easily with simple steps and a quick chill before baking to help them hold their shape and bake up beautifully.

  1. Step 1: Whisk the dry ingredients together and set aside.
  1. Step 2: Cream the butter and sugars, then mix in the eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy.
  1. Step 3: Combine the wet and dry ingredients to form the cookie dough.
  1. Step 4: Fold in the Valentine M&Ms, chocolate chips, and sprinkles.
  1. Step 5: Scoop the dough and place it onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
  1. Step 6: Bake until the edges are set and the centers are soft, about 14 minutes. Enjoy!

See the recipe card below for the full recipe.

👉 Sky's Tips

  • Scoop the dough out before chilling. It's much easier to portion the dough while it's still at room temperature.
  • Chill the dough. This prevents the cookies from spreading too much.
  • Reserve a few M&Ms and sprinkles to press on top for a bakery style look.
  • Slightly underbake for soft centers. About 14 minutes is perfect in my oven, but all ovens are different, so you may need a little more or less time. The cookies will finish setting as they cool.
  • Use a cookie scoop for evenly sized cookies that bake consistently.

I hope you enjoy baking these Valentine M&M Cookies. Whether you're baking with your kids or making a batch to share, they're such a fun way to celebrate Valentine's Day!

-Sky🩷

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¼ cups Valentine M&Ms
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup sprinkles

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl mix together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

  • Place the chilled cookie dough in a 350°F oven and bake for approximately 14 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack. Enjoy!
