Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Quick and easy homemade meatballs make the perfect weeknight dinner. Whether served with marinara sauce or in a meatball sub, these tasty meatballs are sure to be a favorite.

What I love about making these delicious meatballs is how easy they are to make. They use simple, pantry ingredients and come together in under 1 hour. Plus, I know when I make these for dinner, all three of my kids will eat them. That's a huge bonus in my book!

How To Make Homemade Meatballs

Mix together all of the ingredients in a bowl. Mixing thoroughly so that all of the ingredients are fully incorporated.

Portion and roll the meatballs into balls. You can roll them as big or small as you like. I tend to go for a medium sized meatball, about 2 tablespoons. This usually gives me about 20 meatballs.

To sauté the meatballs, heat a large pan over medium heat and add in about 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Begin sauteing the meatballs, cooking each one for 2-3 minutes on each side to brown them nicely. If you want to eat them without sauce, you will need to cook them all the way. If you want to simmer them in marinara sauce, just brown them and allow them to finish cooking in the sauce.

To bake the meatballs place them on a parchment lined sheet tray and place them in a 375° F oven and cook for about 20 minutes, if you want to finish them in a marinara sauce. Or cook for about 30 minutes if you are wanting to eat them without sauce.

Freezing Tips

Meatballs are ideal for preparing ahead of time, freezing, and using as leftovers. I often double the recipe and freeze half for future use. Whenever possible, I make a meal or a portion of it in advance and store it in the freezer.

You can cook the meatballs first, then freeze them if you are wanting a faster dinner option. I like to just place them on a sheet tray lined with parchment paper, making sure none of them are touching and freeze them.

Once they are completely frozen, I just toss them in a freezer bag and back into the freezer. I pull them out the night before I want to cook them and let them thaw in the refrigerator overnight.
