How To Make Halloween Rice Krispie Treats

Once you get started, this process goes pretty quickly, so it is important to have everything measured out and your pan greased and ready before you start.

  1. Lightly grease a 9"x13" pan.
  2. Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Mix in the marshmallows stirring until they are completely melted and smooth.
  3. Mix in the rice krispie cereal- turn off the heat and mix in all of the cereal. Using a lightly greased spatula helps keep the sticky mess from sticking to your spatula.
  4. Mix in the crushed Oreos when the cereal is almost fully mixed in.
  5. Lightly press into your prepared pan, being careful to not press down too much. Allow to set for 30 minutes before decorating.
  6. Cut and Decorate - Once Cooled, cut into squares. Melt your candy mels according to the package directions, then drizzle over the top of the cut squares and quickly top with sprinkles before the candy melts set.

Tips

  • Work quickly! Once you add the marshmallow mixture to the cereal and start mixing it starts to set pretty quickly.
  • Don't press too firmly or your treats will not be soft and chewy.
  • Mix up your add-ins. Swap Oreos for chopped candy bars or M&Ms for a fun twist!

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 5 ½ cups mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispes Cereal
  • 10 Halloween Oreos gently crushed
  • 1 bag white candy melts as needed to decorate
  • 1 bag orange candy melts as needed to decorate
  • As Needed halloween sprinkles

Instructions

  • Lightly grease a 9"x 13" pan.
  • In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in all of the marshmallows.  Continue stirring while the marshmallows melt completely. Turn off the heat and mix in the rice Krispie cereal.
  • When almost all of the cereal is mixed in add in the Oreos and mix well.
  • Gently press into the greased pan. Let set for 30 minutes.
  • Remove from the pan and place onto a piece of parchment. Cut into equal pieces, about 20.
  • Melt about ⅓ of each of the colors of candy melts according to the package directions. Fill the bags/piping bags and cut small holes in the corner/tip of each bag.
  • Drizzle the candy melts over each rice Krispie treat, putting as much as you want on each one. Decorate with the sprinkles immediately. Work fast because the candy melts will cool pretty quickly. Or you can decorate a few at a time. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Work quickly! Once you add the marshmallow mixture to the cereal and start mixing it starts to set pretty quickly.
  • Don't press too firmly or your treats will not be soft and chewy.
  • Mix up your add-ins. Swap Oreos for chopped candy bars or M&Ms for a fun twist!
