Halloween Marble Cookies

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

These Halloween Marble Cookies are soft, chewy, and perfect for celebrating Halloween this year! Swirls of vibrantly colored orange dough and chocolate dough give each cookie a fun marbled look that is super easy to achieve!

I start with my go-to Chocolate Chip Cookie dough and split it into two colorful halves, one tinted orange and the other chocolatey from cocoa powder. Swirled together to make the perfect Halloween Cookie!

They seriously came out so much better than I imagined! The colors are vibrant and scream Halloween! My kiddos even gave them two thumbs up!

Key Ingredients

  • Cocoa Powder - To color and flavor half of the cookie dough.
  • Orange Food Coloring - I use Wilton gel food coloring.

How To Make Halloween Marble Cookies

The full recipe is in the recipe card below.

This process for making the marble cookies is super easy. Here's how to do it:

STEP 1 Make the cookie dough

Prepare the dough as directed but hold back 3 tablespoons of the flour.

STEP 2 Divide the dough

Split the dough in half-either by weight (I use a kitchen scale) or eyeball it.

STEP 3 Color each half

  • To one half, add the 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder and half the chocolate chips. Stir to combine.
  • To the other half, mix in the reserved 3 tablespoons of flour, 6 drops of orange food coloring (or as much as you need to make a bright orange), and the rest of the chocolate chips. Mix to fully combine.

STEP 4 Marble the cookies

Scoop 1 tablespoon of each dough. Split both in half, stack alternating colors, and roll into a ball. Place on the prepared pan and gently press down to lightly flatten the dough.

STEP 5 Bake and enjoy

Bake for 12 to 13 minutes. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons dry milk powder optional
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup light brown sugar lightly packed
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temp
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 6 drops orange food gel
  • 3 cups chocolate chips a mix of semi-sweet and dark chocolate chips or whatever you have

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour (reserving 3 tablespoons for later), baking powder, baking soda, milk powder and salt. Set aside.
  • In the bowl of a stand mixer cream the butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully combined.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing until fully incorporated.
  • Divide the dough evenly between two bowls.
  • In one bowl, mix in 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder and half of the chocolate chips.
  • In the second bowl, mix in the reserved flour, 6 drops of orange food coloring, and the remaining chocolate chips.
  • Scoop 1 tablespoon of each dough. Divide each scoop in half to make four smaller balls of dough. Stack the pieces, alternating colors, then gently roll them together to create a marbled dough ball. Repeat with remaining cookie dough.
  • Place onto the baking sheet and gently press each one to flatten slightly.
  • Bake for 12-13 minutes. Enjoy!
