When it comes to no-bake treats, Rice Krispie treats are always the most requested in our house. These festive Christmas Rice Krispie Treats are super easy to customize! Grab a variety of sprinkle mixes and different colors of candy melts for a fun decorating session. Adding some Christmas light sprinkles would be a perfect finishing touch for these adorable Christmas tree treats.

Christmas Rice Krispie Treats Ingredients

This recipe starts with the classic Rice Krispie treat ingredients, then adds peanut butter for an extra layer of yumminess. A topping of chocolate and festive sprinkles takes these treats to the next level!

  • Butter – Plain unsalted butter for the best results.
  • Marshmallows – This recipe calls for mini marshmallows. Be sure to use fresh, soft ones, as older, stiff marshmallows won't melt properly—I’ve learned this the hard way!
  • Peanut Butter – Use creamy peanut butter for this recipe.
  • Rice Krispies Cereal
  • Chocolate Chips – The topping is made with semi-sweet chocolate chips. Milk or dark chocolate chips can be used instead.
  • Candy Melts – Use green candy melts for the trees.
  • Sprinkles

How To Make Easy Christmas Rice Krispie Treats

These Christmas treats are so easy to make. The hardest part is waiting to eat them!

STEP 1

Melt the butter in a large pot over low heat. Stir in the marshmallows, keep stirring until fully melted. Now stir in the peanut butter and continue stirring until smooth. Remove from heat.

STEP 2

Immediately add in all of the rice krispies cereal and stir until fully combined. Press evenly into a 9x13 baking dish. Allow to cool completely before making the chocolate topping.

STEP 3

In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate. Stir in the peanut butter until smooth, then spread it evenly over the Rice Krispie treats. Chill in the refrigerator for 10 minutes, or until the chocolate is set. Once set, cut into 16 equal triangles. (Two of the end pieces won’t be perfect triangles—consider those a tasty snack! 😄)

STEP 4

Melt the green candy melts according to the package instructions. Transfer to a piping bag and pipe a zigzag pattern, starting small at the top and getting wider as you move toward the bottom. Immediately add sprinkles. Be sure to work on one tree at a time, as the candy melts dry quickly. Enjoy!

STORING

These Christmas Rice Krispie Treats can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
