With just a few simple ingredients and only 30 minutes in the oven, you can transform this often-overlooked vegetable into a delicious side dish.

I have shared my love for oven roasted vegetables many times on this blog. Roasting truly transforms vegetables such as brussels sprouts, broccoli, and carrots. The flavor that comes from roasted vegetables is unmatched.

The best part? Roasting Brussels sprouts is easy. You don't need fancy equipment or a lot of prep time. In fact, they only take 30 minutes in the oven to reach perfect crispiness, with minimal effort from you. Once the Brussels sprouts are in the oven, you're free to focus on the rest of your meal. The oven does all the hard work for you!

Ingredients

  • Brussels Sprouts - Use fresh, not frozen Brussels sprouts, ensuring they are free of blemishes.
  • Olive Oil - Or any neutral-tasting oil suitable for roasting.
  • Seasonings/Spices - This recipe uses a simple blend of salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

STEP 1

Preheat an oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

STEP 2

Trim the ends off of the brussels sprouts and cut them in half. Place them on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle with oil and season. Toss to coat evenly and spread into a single layer.

STEP 3

Roast for 25-30 minutes, turning halfway through to ensure even roasting.

Variations

While this simple tried-and-true recipe is great on its own, there are so many ways to customize it. Here are some delicious variations to try:

Brussels Sprouts with Bacon - Add crispy bacon bits to your roasted Brussels sprouts for a savory, smoky flavor. Simply chop up a few slices of cooked bacon and toss them with the sprouts just before serving.

Lemon Parmesan Brussels Sprouts - For a zesty twist, drizzle with fresh lemon juice and sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese right out of the oven.

Garlic and Herb Roasted Brussels Sprouts - Add minced garlic and your favorite dried herbs-such oregano, thyme, or rosemary-before roasting. Fresh herbs can be added to the brussels sprouts once they come out of the oven.
