OVERNIGHT OATS INGREDIENTS
- Old Fashioned Oats– I find that Old Fashioned Oats have a better texture in this recipe. You can use steel cut or instant, but the texture will be different.
- Yogurt– ANY kind of yogurt can be used when making Overnight Oats. Just keep in mind the sweetness and flavor of the yogurt will affect the entire dish.
- Almond Milk– or any milk, even water will work.
- Extracts can be used to flavor the Overnight Oats
- Spices like cinnamon can be used.
- Chia Seeds offer nutrients like fiber and Omega 3s. They also help to thicken the Overnight Oats.
- Sweeteners like honey or maple syrup. If you are using sweetened yogurt, you may not need any additional sweeteners.
- Nut Butters are great for additional protein and flavor

Making overnight oats is as simple as combining all the ingredients in a bowl or jar, mixing well, and letting them chill overnight. That’s exactly why overnight oats are so popular—you get a delicious, nutritious breakfast with almost no prep work!
For flavor add-ins, just mix them in with the base ingredients until fully combined. As for toppings, you can either add them the night before or sprinkle them on right before eating—the choice is yours!
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO EAT OVERNIGHT OATS?
Overnight Oats are great eaten cold or warmed up.
How long do they last?
You can keep Overnight Oats in the refrigerator for about 4 days.
DO overnight oats have to be made the night before?
Yes, and no. You have to give the oats time to soak up the moisture from the milk and yogurt to soften them. That is why they are typically made the night before so that they are ready for breakfast in the morning. You can make them in the morning and check on the texture of the oats after about 6 hours.
