Guacamole is a staple in my household. My children and I love serving it alongside quesadillas and tacos, as it brings a burst of freshness to every meal.
Guacamole is also great for making in big batches for parties, gameday or just because! It is always a party favorite. It also makes a delicious snack that can be whipped up in under 20 minutes! Definitely my favorite snack to make!
- Avocados – Use ripe avocados for the best results.
- Onions – Red, white or yellow onions can be used.
- Jalapeño – Optional be recommended. It is best to remove the peppers seeds, veins and pith to make it less spicy.
- Tomatoes
- Cilantro
- Lime Juice – Freshly squeezed lime juice is best. If you do not have any limes, you can use lemons instead.
- Seasonings – Salt, pepper, cumin, garlic powder and paprika.
STEP 1
Peel the avocados and discard the pits, then place them in a medium-sized bowl. Mash the avocados with a fork until they reach a slightly creamy consistency. Avoid using a blender, as you don’t want the guacamole to be too runny.
It’s best to leave some small chunks, which will blend in as you mix in the other ingredients.
STEP 2
Next, dice the vegetables and combine them in the bowl with the mashed avocados. Stir in the spices and lime juice until well mixed. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
Tips
Avoid using a knife to extract the avocado seed. Instead, gently press on the back of the avocado, and the seed will easily pop out, offering a safer method. For chunkier guacamole, mash the avocado less and chop the vegetables into bigger chunks.
Guacamole is best served on the same day it is made. Due to oxidation, the avocado may begin to brown, which is not very appetizing.
When preparing guacamole for a party, it’s best to make it right before the event begins. You can prepare ahead by dicing all the vegetables but hold off on mashing the avocados until just before serving.
Guacamole is great as a dip served with tortilla chips. However, there are many different ways you can eat it.
- Add it to a Chicken Burrito Bowl.
- Use it in a chicken or turkey wrap.
- Replace the mayo on your sandwich with guacamole, I love doing this!
- It is great on a Tex-Mex burger!
- Top your quesadillas with a little guacamole.
- Add it to tacos.
- It is great on top of a breakfast taco or burrito!
- Serve it with these Sheet Pan Chicken Fajitas!
