Tips for Making Perfect Cookies Every Time!
Using softened butter is important when making these cookies. The butter needs to be completely soft at room temperature. This will allow for proper creaming of the butter and sugar. Which helps create the perfect spread and texture to the cookie dough.
Do not overmix your cookie dough. Mix just until the flour is fully incorporated. To ensure that I do not overmix the cookie dough I like to add the M&Ms, sprinkles and chocolate chips in when I add the dry ingredients to the bowl.
Do not overbake your cookies! Overbaking will make a much harder cookie. When baking Christmas M&M Sprinkle Cookies, knowing the perfect time to remove them from the oven is key to the BEST texture. You are looking for the edges to be slightly browned and flat. The centers should be puffed and a little underdone looking. The carryover baking will take care of the rest.
How to Make Christmas M&M Sprinkle Cookies
- Cream butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar in a bowl fitted with a paddle for about 6 minutes.
- Add in egg yolks and vanilla extract and continue mixing until fully combined and lighter in color.
- Mix together the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, M&Ms, sprinkles and both chocolate chips.
- Mix in the dry ingredients until fully combined and no more white streaks remain.
- Scoop and bake – Scoop onto a parchment lined baking sheet and bake in a 350° F preheated oven for 10-12 minutes.
*Pro Tip
After scooping the cookie dough onto the baking sheet gently press to flatten out each cookie a little. Then place a few m&ms, sprinkles and chocolate chips on top to create even prettier cookies.
Storing Christmas M&M Sprinkle Cookies
Store Christmas M&M Sprinkle Cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for about 4 days for the freshest tasting cookies. After 4 days the cookies will no longer have their nice chewing texture. While they are fine to eat, they no longer have the best texture.
