This Lemon Chicken with Garlic Butter Sauce is a FANTASTIC 30-minute meal that the whole family will love! Crusted with parmesan cheese and panko breadcrumbs, pan fried and finished with a delicious garlic butter pan sauce, this chicken dish is a winner.

I seriously had no idea how much my family was going to love this chicken dish. They gobbled it up and immediately proclaimed (my 10 and 5 year old) that it was the best chicken dish they had ever had. No complaints here, because it is so easy to make and is ready in just 30 minutes, you cannot beat that. Oh, and they are right, it is so dang delicious!

This delicious chicken dish is one of my favorites to make because it only uses a few simple ingredients and takes just 30 minutes to make. I love recipes that come together quickly and can be made when I am pressed for time. This recipe checks all the boxes and is kid approved!
- Chicken Breasts – Cut lengthwise and lightly pounded for even cooking. Try substituting with boneless, skinless chicken thighs for a juicier option. Or, cut the chicken into tenders for delicious lemony chicken tenders.
- Seasonings – A simple blend of salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning enhances the flavor of the chicken. Feel free to adjust to your taste or add a little smoked paprika for extra depth.
- Breading Mixture – A combination of panko, parmesan, flour, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and pepper creates a crispy, flavorful crust. Swap panko for regular breadcrumbs if needed.
- Garlic Butter Sauce – Made with butter, minced garlic, lemon juice, chicken stock, and seasonings for a rich and tangy finish. You can use vegetable broth if needed.
- Vegetables (Optional Add-In) – Customize this dish with your favorite veggies! Quick-cooking or blanched vegetables work best. Fresh zucchini, squash, green beans, or mushrooms would all be fantastic additions. Just toss them into the pan after cooking the chicken to soak up the delicious flavors.

Lemon Chicken with Garlic Butter Sauce
Ingredients
- As Needed oil for cooking
- 2 Large chicken breasts
- 1 Teaspoon salt
- 1 Teaspoon black pepper freshly cracked
- 1 Teaspoon italian seasoning
- ½ Cup panko breadcrumbs
- ½ Cup shredded parmesan cheese
- 3 Tablespoons flour
- ¼ Teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 oz unsalted butter
- 3 Cloves garlic minced
- ¼ Cup chicken stock
- ¼ Cup fresh lemon juice
- As Needed fresh parsley, minced for garnish
- 2 Large eggs
- 1 Tablespoon water
Instructions
- Combine 1 teaspoon of salt, ½ teaspoon of pepper and ½ teaspoon of italian seasoning. Cut the chicken in half lengthwise and lightly beat out until even thickness is achieved. Pat dry and season with the seasoning mixture.
- In a small bowl combine the eggs and water. Whisk to fully combine. Set aside. In a separate bowl combine the panko breadcrumbs, shredded parmesan cheese, flour, garlic powder, remaining pepper and italian seasoning. Whisking to fully combine.
- Begin breading the chicken by first coating the chicken with the eggwash, letting the excess drip off, then pressing gently into the breadcrumb mixture. Make sure each side gets a generous amount of breading. Continue with all pieces of chicken.
- In a large skillet, heat oil (enough to cover the bottom of the skillet) over medium heat. Cook each piece of chicken until lightly browned, crispy and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- In a separate pan melt the butter for the sauce. Once melted add in the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Whisk in the lemon juice and chicken stock. Cook for 2 minutes over medium heat. Pour over chicken, garnish with parsley and serve. Enjoy!
