I never have to ask if anyone wants banana bread, husband and kids will gobble it as soon as it cool enough to wat it! We love bananas around here (you may have noticed by the number of banana recipes on my blog-from Banana Pudding to Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins). So I'm always looking for ways to use up those last few spotted bananas no one wants to eat.

Key Ingredients & Substitutions
- Very Ripe Bananas - For the best flavor and texture, your bananas should be soft and heavily speckled. That's when they're perfect!
- Brown Sugar - Adds a richer, complex flavor and helps keep the bread moist thanks to the molasses.
- Melted Butter - My go-to for flavor and richness, but vegetable oil or melted coconut oil can be substituted.
- Cinnamon - A hint of warm spice that pairs beautifully with bananas (and makes your kitchen smell amazing while it bakes).
Want banana nut bread? Go ahead and add in ½ cup of toasted walnuts or pecans!

Use overripe bananas for the best banana flavor! The peels should have lots of brown spots all over them.

Notes
- Use bananas that are well past their prime-those spotted, brown ones that look like they belong in the compost bin are perfect for banana bread.
- Customize your mix-ins. I love walnuts, but pecans, hazelnuts, or chocolate chips are all great options too.
- Don't overmix the batter. Stir just until the dry ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Freeze it! This recipe freezes beautifully. You can wrap individual slices or the whole loaf once it's cooled for an easy make-ahead treat.
