This is my go-to Soft and Chewy Sugar Cookies recipe. They are the perfect combination of sweet vanilla flavor and soft and chewy texture. They take just 30 minutes to make and require no chilling. That is always a bonus in my book.

How To Make Soft & Chewy Sugar Cookies

You won’t believe how easy these cookies are to make! Just a few simple steps and you’ll have bakery-worthy cookies in no time.

STEP 1

In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Mix in the egg, egg yolk, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Beat until well combined.

STEP 2

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.

STEP 3

Use a 1-ounce cookie scoop (or 2 heaping tablespoons) to scoop the cookie dough, then roll each piece into a ball and coat the tops in the remaining 3 tablespoons of sugar. Arrange the cookies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart. Bake for 9-10 minutes. Enjoy!
