Sausage Rolls

4 ingredient appetizer that comes together quickly and is always a crowd pleaser. All you need to make this delicious appetizer is a box of puff pastry, breakfast sausage, 1 egg and a little water.

Move over pigs in a blanket, Sausage Rolls are my new appetizer of choice. These sausage rolls are delicious and so easy to make. With just a few ingredients you can put together a quick and easy appetizer that everyone will love. Buttery, flaky puff pastry wrapped around sausage and baked. What’s not to love about that combination?

No party is really a party without appetizers, right? This appetizer is about as easy as it gets and tastes fantastic! Whether you are celebrating a holiday, or having a gameday party, appetizers are a must. My family loves the classic pigs in a blanket but after making these sausage rolls, we have decided that sausage rolls are now our go-to appetizer. We can’t get enough of them! We make them for a quick lunch paired with cut up vegetables all the time.

How to Make Sausage Rolls

Make sure to have the puff pastry fully thawed before using it. The puff pastry should be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it.

Preheat the oven to 400° F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Lightly flour a work surface and unfold both sheets of puff pastry and place on the counter.

Cut each sheet of puff pastry into 3 pieces. Cut along the lines where the puff pastry was folded.

Divide the sausage equally between the 6 pieces of dough, roll the sausage into logs and place them on the dough, about 1-inch from the edge.

Brush the edge of the dough with the egg wash.

Roll the dough, starting with the bigger side, towards the side that has the egg wash. Lightly pressing the sausage to keep it in the dough as you roll it.

Gently tuck the dough under the sausage once you reach the end with the egg wash, then roll over the egg wash and gently press the dough to seal it.

Roll the sausage roll so that the seam is on the bottom.

Using a sharp knife or a bench scraper, cut each roll into equal pieces, about 2 inches each.

Place each piece onto the parchment lined baking sheet, seam side down.

Egg wash each piece and place in the oven for 35 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden brown and delicious! Enjoy!
