Pepperoni Pinwheels INGREDIENTS

This recipe for pepperoni pinwheels uses just a few basic ingredients.

  • Tomato Sauce– For making a quick homemade pizza sauce. Store bought pizza sauce can be substituted if needed.
  • Seasonings/Spices– The homemade pizza sauce and the butter topping in this recipe use the following seasonings/spices: Salt, pepper, garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
  • Butter
  • Puff Pastry– One sheet of premade puff pastry.
  • Cheese– Both mozzarella and parmesan cheese are needed for these pepperoni pizza pinwheels.

How To Make Pepperoni Pizza Pinwheels

It is important to keep the puff pastry chilled to keep its signature flakiness. Prep all of your ingredients before taking the puff pastry out of the refrigerator.

STEP 1

Lightly flour a work surface and lay out the puff pastry. Unfold the dough and evenly spread 1/3 cup of pizza sauce over the surface.

STEP 2

Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the pizza sauce, then layer on the pepperoni slices. Roll the pastry tightly into a log, then refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm up.

STEP 3

Preheat your oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Remove the pastry from the refrigerator. Slice the log into 1/2-inch pieces and place them on a lined baking sheet. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden and flaky.

STEP 4

Brush the warm pinwheels with garlic butter and serve with the remaining pizza sauce for dipping. Enjoy!

How To CUSTOMIZE Pepperoni Pinwheels

You can put all of your favorite pizza toppings in these pinwheels. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Add crumbled Italian sausage, ground beef or bacon.
  • Add chopped bell peppers.
  • Make it a supreme and add chopped mushrooms, olives, peppers, onions and all the meats!

  3. Preheat your oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Remove the pastry from the refrigerator. Using a serrated knife, gently slice the log into 1/2-inch pieces and place them on a lined baking sheet. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden and flaky.

  4. Combine the melted butter with the remaining garlic butter ingredients and mix well to combine.

  5. Brush the warm pinwheels with garlic butter and sprinkle over extra grated parmesan cheese, if desired.  Serve with the remaining pizza sauce for dipping. Enjoy!

    The pizza sauce can be warmed up before serving or served at room temperature.
