Ingredients Needed to Make Cheesy Cauliflower Tots

  • Cauliflower – Fresh cauliflower that has been riced and sautéed.
  • Cheese – This recipe uses both shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese. The cheeses can be substituted with cheddar cheese.
  • Eggs – They act as a binder to help hold the mixture together.
  • Olive Oil – For frying the cauliflower tots.
  • Seasonings – Garlic powder and salt.

STEP ONE: The first step in making these cheesy cauliflower tots is to rice the cauliflower. This is very easy to do and can be done in no time with a food processor or box grater. Using a food processer with the shredding attachment will make this job super easy.

STEP TWO: After ricing the cauliflower, sauté it in the olive oil until tender and no moisture is left in the pan.

STEP THREE: In a large bowl whisk the egg, salt and garlic powder together. Stir in both cheeses and then the cauliflower. Stir well to combine.

STEP FOUR: Scoop onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Shape each tot by gently flattening them out.

STEP FIVE: In a large skillet add olive oil and begin cooking the tots. Cook each tot for 3-4 minutes on each side or until browned and crispy. Cook in batches until all of the tots have been cooked. Enjoy!

How to Make Cheesy Cauliflower Tots in the Air Fryer

Lightly brush or spray the cauliflower tots with oil. Place in air fryer basket and set to 390°F. Cook for 8 minutes, gently flipping the tots halfway through the cooking time. Enjoy!

Storing Cheesy Cauliflower Tots

Store leftover cauliflower tots in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

To freeze cauliflower tots you can freeze them before or after cooking them. Place them on a parchment lined baking sheet, in a single layer, and freeze. Once completely frozen you can transfer them to a freezer bag or container.

To Cook from Frozen: Cook from frozen the same way the recipe card instructs.

Reheating Cheesy Cauliflower Tots

I find the best to reheat cauliflower tots is to use an oven or air fryer. If using an oven place the tots in a 350° F oven for 10 minutes or until hot and crispy.

To reheat in an air fryer set the air fryer to 390°F and reheat for 4-6 minutes, flipping halfway through the cooking time.

  1. In a large sauté pan over medium heat drizzle in 2 tablespoons of olive oil.  Add the riced cauliflower to the pan and cook (stirring occasionally) for approximately 8 minutes, or until tender and no moisture remains.

  2. In a large bowl whisk the egg, salt and garlic powder together. Stir in both cheeses and then the cauliflower. Stir well to combine.

  3. Scoop onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Shape each tot by gently flattening them out.

  4. In a large skillet add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and begin cooking the tots. Cook each tot for 3-4 minutes on each side or until browned and crispy.

  5. Add more oil as needed to cook all of the tots.  Place finished tots on a paper towel lined plate while cooking the remaining tots.  Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.  Enjoy!
