Ingredients

  • 4 slices thick cut, smoky bacon cut into small pieces
  • 1 medium onion small diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 cups chicken stock unsalted
  • 1 pound green beans fresh, frozen or canned
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • As Needed pepper
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes optional
I always use Kosher salt in my kitchen! If using table salt, start with half the amount and adjust to taste, as it is much "saltier" by volume.

Instructions

  • In a large pot over medium heat, add the bacon and start rendering the fat. Once the bacon is nearly fully rendered, add the onions and sauté until they are softened, which should take about 5 minutes.
  • Now add the garlic to the pot and sauté for 30 seconds. Pour in the chicken stock and stir to fully combine.
  • Add the green beans, salt, pepper and red pepper flakes to the pot. Bring to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes or until the green beans are tender. Adjust seasonings if needed. Enjoy!

Notes

If using salted chicken stock/broth the amount of salted added may need to be adjusted.
