Equipment

  • 2 9x5 loaf pans or 8x4 pans

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 15 ounces pumpkin purée
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
I always use Kosher salt in my kitchen! If using table salt, start with half the amount and adjust to taste, as it is much "saltier" by volume.

Instructions

  • Preheat an oven to 325°F and lightly grease and line two 9x5 loaf pans with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and nutmeg. Whisk until fully combined. Set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, combine both sugars and melted butter. Whisk until fully combined. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract and whisk until smooth.
  • Add in the pumpkin purée and mix until fully combined. Then gently stir in the flour mixture until fully combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips. Equally divide the batter between the two pans, smooth out and sprinkle additional chocolate chips over the top if desired.
  • Bake for 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs (avoid testing directly into a chocolate chip).
  • Let the loaves cool in the pans for 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wire rack. Enjoy!
