This tried-and-true Homemade Sloppy Joes recipe skips the canned sauce and ketchup, opting instead for basic pantry staples to create a scrumptious homemade take on the classic childhood favorite.
I always use Kosher salt in my kitchen! If using table salt, start with half the amount and adjust to taste, as it is much "saltier" by volume.
Instructions
In a large skillet over medium high heat begin browning the ground beef. Halfway through the browning, add the bell peppers and onions. Keep cooking until the beef is thoroughly browned and the vegetables are soft. Then stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds. Once done, take the skillet off the heat and drain the excess fat.
Return the meat to the skillet over medium heat and stir in the remaining ingredients. Bring the mixture to a simmer and allow it to cook for 5 minutes, stirring often.
Serve on toasted hamburger buns. Enjoy!
Notes
You may need more or less salt depending on the salt content of the beef stock you use.
