These homemade breadsticks are a game-changer! Whether you’re making them fresh or pulling a frozen batch from the freezer, they are always a hit. Give them a try with your favorite pasta dish!
Combine the yeast, sugar, warm water and milk in the bowl of a stand mixer. Allow to sit for 5 minutes.
Add ¾ teaspoon salt, olive oil and bread flour to the bowl. Mix on the lowest setting until fully combined. Slowly add in the remaining flour until the dough comes together. You may or may not need all of the flour.
Once all of the flour has been added, begin kneading the dough (using the dough hook attachment) for 8-10 minutes or until the dough passes the windowpane test.
Lightly coat the dough with oil, place a damp towel over the bowl and set in a warm place until doubled in size.
Divide into 12 equal pieces. Form each piece of dough into a ball then gently roll out into a 6" log. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let proof until puffy but not doubled.
Preheat an oven to 375°F while the breadsticks are rising.Place in the oven and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until lightly browned and hollow sounding when tapped.
While the breadsticks are baking make the garlic butter by mixing together the butter, ¼ teaspoon salt, garlic powder and parsley. Once the breadsticks come out of the oven brush with the butter and sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Enjoy!
