Buttery, flaky puff pastry wrapped around savory sausage and baked until golden brown. With just 4 simple ingredients, these easy sausage rolls are the ultimate party appetizer!
I always use Kosher salt in my kitchen! If using table salt, start with half the amount and adjust to taste, as it is much "saltier" by volume.
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Lightly flour your work surface, unfold both sheets of thawed puff pastry, and cut along the fold lines of each sheet to create 6 equal rectangles.
Divide the sausage into 6 equal portions. Shape each portion into a long sausage log and place it onto the dough, about 1 inch from the long edge.
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to make an egg wash. Brush the egg wash along the opposite long edge of the pastry.
Roll the dough tightly over the sausage log toward the egg-washed edge. Tuck the dough underneath and press gently to seal. Position the log seam-side down.
Using a sharp knife or bench scraper, cut each log into equal 2-inch pieces. Arrange the rolls seam-side down on your prepared baking sheet.
Brush the tops of all the rolls with the remaining egg wash (and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using).
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown, and the sausage is cooked through. Enjoy!
Notes
Servings are calculated per individual roll (yields 24 rolls total). A typical party serving is about 4 rolls per person.
