Pork Stir Fry

Pork Stir Fry

This easy Pork Stir Fry is perfect for busy weeknights and meal prep. The mouth-watering sauce and pork loin make this delicious dish a family favorite. Serve up with a big bowl of simple steamed white rice and dinner time will be a hit.

I have mentioned before my love for Asian Cuisine. I am always making different Asian inspired dishes, and this is one of my favorites. This pork stir fry is all about the sauce. It is seriously, so good! It makes a great all-purpose stir-fry sauce, that is great with beef, chicken and pork.

The key ingredient in the sauce is Hoisin Sauce. Which is used a lot in Chinese cooking. This rich flavored sauce is the perfect combination of sweet and tangy. It is often served as a dipping sauce as well as in stir-fry sauces. You can find it in the Asian section of your grocery store or in your local Asian Market. It is the most important part of this dish, in terms of flavor so don't skip it.

The vegetables in this stir fry are just green beans, mushrooms and green onion. Those can easily be changed to your favorite stir fry vegetables, or just what you have on hand. Broccoli, bell peppers and baby corn would be fantastic in this dish. Like most recipes, use this recipe as a guideline and feel free to use whatever meat or vegetables you have. I'm sure it will turn out delicious either way!

I know this list seems a little long, but I promise this dish will come together fast. What I love about stir fry dishes is that they are easily customizable. I have provided a few suggestions for substitutions.

  • Pork Loin - Chicken and beef will also work great in this recipe. Ground meats will also work in this recipe.
  • Oils - Olive oil and sesame oil
  • Green Onions - If you don't have green onion, you can use yellow or white onion.
  • Green Beans - Fresh or frozen are preferred. You can substitute with any vegetables in this stir fry dish.
  • Mushrooms
  • Garlic cloves - Garlic powder can be used if you do not have fresh garlic.
  • Fresh ginger - Ground ginger can be used if you do not have fresh ginger.
  • Gochugaru - Korean red pepper flakes. These can be substituted for red pepper flakes to taste.
  • Butter
  • White Rice - Optional, the rice is served alongside the stir fry.
  • Rice Vinegar
  • Hoisin Sauce
  • Soy Sauce
  • Honey
  • Cornstarch
  • Salt & Pepper

1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add in the green beans. Cook for 2 minutes then drain and cool the green beans in ice water. Once cooled drain and set aside.

2. In a small bowl combine the sauce ingredients. Mix well.

3. In a large skillet over medium high heat add the olive oil, once hot add in the pork, season with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Cook the meat until fully cooked and browned.

Add in the mushrooms and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 5 minutes or until the mushrooms are done. Remove from the pan and set aside.

4. Turn the heat down to medium, add the butter to the pan. Once melted add in the green beans, ginger, garlic and green onions. Sauté for 1 minute.

5. Pour in the sauce mixture and cook, stirring, until thickened.

6. Add the pork and mushrooms back to the pan, stir until well combined. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

7. Serve with steamed rice. Enjoy!

This versatile dish can be prepared using so many different ingredients. Use what you have on hand or your favorite stir fry ingredients. Here are a few suggestions.

  • Ground Pork goes great in stir fry dishes.
  • Ground Beef is another great meat to use in this dish.
  • Vegetarian - Leave out the meat all together and make this stir fry vegetarian.
  • Rice Noodles are great tossed in the finished sauce. Instead of serving rice with this dish cook rice noodles according to the package and toss them in the finished sauce.
  • Extra veggies like traditional stir fry veggies can be added. Here are a few of my favorite stir fry veggies. Water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, baby corn and zucchini.
  • Peppers such as red and green bell peppers make a great addition to this stir fry.
  • Wonton strips are great when added to the top of this dish. The crunchy texture is awesome!
