Fresh bananas, walnuts and chocolate combined with your basic overnight oats creates this delicious Chunky Monkey Overnight Oats treat. This scrumptious combination can be enjoyed for breakfast, a snack or even dessert!

Creating new overnight oat flavors is always so much fun. This combination was inspired by Ben and Jerry's popular Chunky Monkey Ice Cream flavor. I have to admit, this is probably one of my favorite overnight oat combinations.

Why You'll Love This Recipe
- Meal prep for these Chunky Monkey Overnight Oats takes just 5 minutes.
- The fresh banana flavor, combined with the walnuts and chocolate is truly a treat.
- Overnight Oats are loaded with fiber and protein to help get you through the day.

Ingredients for Chunky Monkey Overnight Oats
- Oats – Old fashioned rolled oats work best for overnight oats.
- Yogurt – Plain yogurt or vanilla yogurt are what I like to use for Chunky Monkey Overnight Oats.
- Milk – Any milk will work just fine for overnight oats.
- Chia Seeds – These are a must when making overnight oats. Chia seeds not only thicken the overnight oats, but they provide additional fiber.
- Sweetener – My preferred sweetener is honey. Maple syrup is also a great sweetener to use.
- Bananas – Fresh, ripe bananas.
- Walnuts – Chopped walnuts.
- Chocolate – Your choice of chocolate. I love using dark chocolate in this recipe.
How to Make Chunky Monkey Overnight Oats
Overnight Oats are very easy to make. It only takes about 5 minutes of prep time then you just refrigerate them and let them do their magic.
Combine - In a small bowl combine the oats, yogurt, milk, chia seeds and honey. Stir well to combine.
Refrigerate - Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Serve - When ready to serve stir in your desired amount of freshly sliced bananas, chopped walnuts and chocolate. Enjoy!

How Long do Overnight Oats Take?
Overnight Oats are usually ready after 4 hours. Making them the night before you plan on eating them makes them a quick and easy breakfast meal prep.
When Do You Add Fruit and Nuts to Overnight Oats?
You can add the fruit when you are making the overnight oats. With the exception of bananas. I like to either mash the banana up and mix it into the oat mixture (so that the oxidation isn't as noticeable) or slice it and add it to the oats right before I eat them.
When adding nuts to overnight oats it is always best to add them right before eating the overnight oats. Nuts tend to get soft when mixed into the oat mixture.

What is the Best Ratio of Liquid to Oats for Overnight Oats?
I find that the best liquid to oats ratio is 2:1. That is 2-parts liquid to 1-part oats. The liquid is your milk of choice along with your yogurt of choice. This ratio creates the best texture, in my opinion of course.
When using a 1:1 ration the mixture is a lot thicker. With that being said, it really boils down to how thick you like the consistency of your overnight oats.

How Long Do Overnight Oats Last?
Overnight oats can last for up to 5 days in the fridge when stored in an airtight container. When making overnight oats I like to make a large batch to get us through the week.
To make a big batch into different flavors, first make the base in a large bowl, without the sweetener. Then divide into portions and make each flavor combination in their separate containers.
