Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

These Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars are everything you love about classic chocolate chip cookies-chewy, buttery, rich-but even easier to make. With just 10 minutes of prep and no scooping or chilling, this is the kind of recipe busy moms (and anyone who loves a sweet treat) will come back to again and again.

I am a HUGE cookie fan! I love a good chocolate chip cookie as much as the next person. But when I want something quick and easy to make this is my go-to recipe! It really does take just 10 minutes to whip up and get into the oven.

What's New In This Recipe

This updated version of chocolate chip cookie bar recipe has a few changes that make it even better:

  • Melted butter instead of softened butter means less waiting and no mixer needed.
  • Cornstarch is added for an ultra-soft, chewy texture that holds together beautifully.

My Latest Videos

I made a few changes to this Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars recipe to improve the texture and make the process even easier. No need to cream butter and sugar together. Just melt, mix and bake! All you need is one bowl and a few minutes to stir it all together.

🥣 Key Ingredients

The full ingredient list is in the recipe card below.

  • Melted Unsalted Butter - Do not use salted butter, it will make the cookie bars too salty.
  • Brown Sugar - opt for dark brown sugar here, it will take the rich cookie flavor to the next level. If you only have light brown sugar, no worries!
  • Cornstarch - Helps create a tender, soft bar that holds together well.
  • Chocolate Chips - Semi-sweet is my go-to, but milk or dark chocolate work too.

🍪 How To Make Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

These Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars come together in no time! With melted butter and a simple mix-by-hand method, you'll have them in the oven in minutes.
STEP 1

In a large bowl whisk together the melted butter, both sugars, eggs and vanilla extract.

STEP 2

In a separate bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cornstarch and salt.

STEP 3

Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and stir until full combined. Now fold in the chocolate chips.

STEP 4

Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan. Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and set. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out with just a few moist crumbs.

STEP 5

Cool completely before cutting. Enjoy!
